Home / History / Family Owned Business Was a Recycling Pioneer

O&M Vickers 022The company known today as BHT ReSources began its corporate life as the 19th century gave way to the 20th.

That’s when a small wholesaler of hides, furs and wool first opened its doors on historic Morris Avenue in downtown Birmingham, Alabama.

From those humble beginnings, BHT has grown to become a leader in its field and an innovator in modern technology.

More than 100 years before the first Earth Day, BHT was recycling and recovering useful resources. Since the mid-1930s, the Vickers family has owned and managed the business. Today, the company Owen Vickers leads as CEO operates throughout the southeast, providing sustainable rendering, cooking oil recovery, grease trap solutions and drain maintenance services.
