logo-naraOn September 1, 2014, the National Renderers Association released a press briefing titled “Surprising Results from Age-Old Practice of Rendering”.

The release highlights the many economic, environmental, consumer, and agricultural benefits of rendering. For instance, North American renderers collect almost 60 billion pounds a year of byproducts from the production of cows, pigs, chicken, and fish – material that would otherwise end up in a landfill (or worse, in local streams or rivers). If all of this material was landfilled instead of rendered, every landfill in the United States and Canada would be filled in just 4 short years. The rendering industry is the only sustainable solution to deal with this massive amount of byproduct.

BHT ReSources is a proud member of the National Renderers Association and has been a part of this sustainable solution for more than a century. Read more about our history here.
